What spec? For a caster it might be better to be a Night Elf since in 5 mans if you pull aggro you can shadowmeld and hopefully it buys you a few seconds for the tank to get his act together.
A feral might want to go worgen though for the extra sprint, for the rare times when there is a fight with a lot of movement

caster form sprint would almost certainly take the cake there - for raiding at least.
Shadowmeld might see some use in bad 5-man PuGs.
Caster form sprint, IDK the use for that as I've never raided but I hope it may be useful.
PErsonally, I like worgen appearance better (not a twilight fan), but I don't want to gimp myself if the racials are serious enough to consider changing race over, night elfs dont look bad either just saying what I would prefer aesthetically, but wanted some input from experienced players
I don't think I could part with the Shadowmeld + Flight Form ultimate escape mechanism that NE Druids have almost everywhere. Doesn't help in arena/bg/raiding, but it's the king of all escape mechanisms out in the world.
As Dragoncat mentioned if you're seriously looking at trying to get the most out of your character in terms of PvE, then correct choice would be Worgen.
Worgen, but only if you are able to put up with the casting animations, which are beyond terrible so much so that Worgen should only really be utilized by melee classes.
Really don't get why people think this. They're better than night elf casting animations.
Solo PVE = NE, for Shadowmeld. Group PVE = Worgen, for the critz.
Male Night Elf casting animation is the worst in the game.
I thought bout switching to worgen, but as resto, there are times when new adds spawn (Anub in ToC for example) or aggro resets that having a temp aggro dump like shadowmeld comes in handy.
Plus sometimes you can survive the wipe with shadowmeld :)
And as mentioned, out in the world, shadowmeld->flightform is an awesome escape.
For pve: Feral dps and Boomkin-> worgen and Feral tank-> NE
Its a tough call for resto i think...
and if your a female NE, you'd be giving up the bounce!
I prefer worgen's bear form over ne's. I just can't seem to get over the parted sideburns though I know ne's racials have a lot more use for a dudu compared to worgen's.

I has 4 Druids. This is the only one to make it past the second zone though, too busy leveling other alts.

Well, as a healer, you'd be doing nothing with one of NE best racials: the 2% dodge. Shadowmeld is quite nice for a healer dealing with adds and/or a bad group to drop aggro. Its also very nice for soloing for hassle free afk and survival.
That said, while its always nice to have, the utility of shadowmeld goes down the better your group gets (i.e. guild runs and raids, where people are competent, your tank is good, and dps don't aggro dump on you). So it depends on if your talking about casual PvE via PUGs or organized/progression PvE.
For the latter, Worgen is going to do more for you, IMHO, with the constant 1% crit and sprint which lets you get out of hazards and reposition quickly (not to be underestimated). Plus as you've mentioned preferring the way worgen look, that's really the most important factor in choosing race, since you're stuck looking at your avatar for countless hours.
Since I place priority on progression oriented PvE, I'd say Worgen is better for Resto, Balance, and Cat. NE gets my nod for Bear tanks, although I could make an argument for Worgen there too if we're talking about an off tank/dps hybrid build.
PvE settings NE really far superior as Bear tank, everything else worgen are best.
But who cares, it's all about fun, difference are minor, I'm Healer/DPS
